The advancements in technology because of the Industrial Revolution allowed for machines to help farmers grow and collect crops such as cotton, food crops like legumes, and tobacco. Farmers learned different techniques to help their crops and land stay as well-made as possible; cultivation of clover and legumes helps restore the fertility of the soil, and the farmers found that horsepower worked better than oxen for work. This allowed for more food to support families and feed people, and in a more convenient and productive way; the Industrial Revolution was based around this idea: easier work, more profit. I’m curious as to whether people thought doing things the ‘easy way’ was a bad idea, that destroying old traditions would provide nothing good?
